It Is Too Late To Form A Third Party – Dele Momodu

Former Presidential candidate and owner of Ovation International, Otunba Dele Momodu has stated that it can be too late to form a third political party that will give a run for the two main parties, the All Progressives Congress and People’s Democratic Party in the coming general elections.

The media entreprenuer made this known in his article, Pendulum, a weekly column he usually publish every Saturday. He disclosed that with elections coming up next year, it can to late to build a third party which can wrestle power from the current top two.

He said, “Politics is a game of numbers and figures. It is not for the faint-hearted. Iā€™m almost certain that no major force apart from PDP can sack Buhari and, or, APC from power next year. It is an established fact that only two dominant Parties are viable in most countries of the world. There are a few exceptions here and there, but they belong in the realm of magic and miracle.

“I believe that it is too late in the day, with elections coming next year, to build a third Party, or movement, of force, or whatever to compete against APC or PDP.

Mr Momodu, who is the Publisher of Ovation Magazine referred to the legendary letter by former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo PhD, where the former leader of the main opposition party made mention of a new party currently underway for the 2019 General Elections. He also noted that the PDP needed to address all its internal conflicts and present a united front so as to be able to unseat the ruling APC. He said the former Head of State can neither join the APC nor PDP because of some members he will never associate with, hence he is willing to form and ally with other parties.

He however advised that Chief Obasanjo have to accept any candidate the PDP nominates should in case President Buhari decide to run again on the platform of APC
