In a noteworthy achievement, Lagos State University (LASU) clinched the title of Nigeria’s most Digitally Advanced State University, along with two other prestigious awards at the recently concluded Nigeria Technology Awards held at VirginRose Resorte, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event, graced by renowned brands such as DHL, Tecno, NDIC, FIRS, iTel Mobile, and Vatebra Limited, among others, saw LASU honored in three distinct categories. The awards received were for Excellence in Digital Transformation State University, Best Use of Technology (Students Records) State University, and Best Use of Technology (E-learning) State University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan, accepted the awards on behalf of the institution. LASU stood out as one of the most awarded organizations during the ceremony.
The recognition in the technology domain attests to LASU’s strides in digitalizing its processes and services over the last two years under Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello’s administration. Recently, the university introduced the LASU Staff Corner mobile app to enhance staff productivity, receiving acclaim from stakeholders.
Adding to its accolades, LASU was ranked the 9th best university in Nigeria by the “AD Scientific Index 2024” World Scientist and University across all categories.
Prof. Omobitan, accompanied by university officials, including Mr. Said Babatunde Olayinka (Bursar, represented by Deputy Bursar, Epe Campus, Mr. Jerry Jinadu), Dr. Lateef Sekoni (Deputy Registrar, VCO), Dr. Lateef Salami (Deputy Registrar and Special Assistant to the VC), Mrs. Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile (Coordinator, CIPR), and Mr. Oluwaseun Gbanja (Media Assistant to the VC), received the prestigious awards.
