American rapper Rick Ross has been released from jail after being arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, over allegations of domestic violence.

Ross, whose real name is William Roberts II, surrendered to police on Thursday, October 1, and was booked on charges of felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery, according to court records.

He was later released on a $5,000 cash bond, with his arraignment scheduled for October 22.

The arrest followed a report by his ex who told Miami Beach police that she had been living with the 50-year-old rapper when an alleged altercation occurred on August 28.

According to the arrest report, the woman alleged that Ross accused her of cheating before striking her several times. She further alleged that he choked her using the collar of her shirt and slammed her against a wall.

She reportedly left the residence and later returned to collect her belongings after Ross had left.

Ross has denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.

His attorney, Steve Sadow, said the rapper was being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend and urged the public not to prejudge the case while the legal process continues.

The allegations have not been proven in court.

Ross, 50, rose to prominence with his 2006 hit single “Hustlin’” and later founded Maybach Music Group, a record label associated with artists including Meek Mill and Wale.

His latest album, Set In Stone, was released in July 2026.

His next major court date is the October 22 arraignment.
