It has been a year since  the tragic hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of Dr. Olaolu Mudasiru, affectionately known as Dr. Bob, a distinguished investment banker and co-founder of Vetiva Capital Management.

The incident occurred on Bourdillon Road in Ikoyi, Lagos, on December 12, 2022, while Dr. Bob was cycling with two friends. A speeding vehicle collided with them and sped away, leaving him fatally injured and the others wounded.

On Sunday, December 10, 2023, the cycling community in Lagos organized a memorial ride in honor of Dr. Bob. The event aimed to commemorate his life and call for justice as the perpetrators of the hit-and-run are still at large, with ongoing police investigations.

Hundreds of cyclists, adorned in T-shirts featuring Dr. Bob’s image and the slogan “Justice for Dr. Bob,” gathered at the accident site. Flowers and candles were laid in remembrance of the passionate cycling advocate.

In Dr. Bob’s memory, a memorial service would also be held tomorrow December 11, 2023, at the Church of the Nativity, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, by 10am.

Dr. Bob, a medical doctor and Chevening scholar, had a distinguished career in finance. He co-founded Vetiva Capital Management in 2008, holding positions such as deputy managing director and chief operating officer. He was also a prominent member of the London Stock Exchange and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Nigeria.

Born on August 5, 1968, as the first son of Gbolahan Mudasiru, a former military governor of Lagos state, Dr. Bob is survived by his wife and three children.
