Former Kano State Governor and a chieftain of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has revealed that he and his political supporters received no recognition despite contributing nearly two million votes to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari during past elections.
Kwankwaso made the disclosure during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday night, where he reflected on his political journey and frustrations with past alliances.
According to him, the sacrifices made by his political structure and supporters were never acknowledged by Buhari’s camp, despite the risks they took to mobilise support.
“We worked extremely hard and delivered about 1.9 million votes, almost two million,” Kwankwaso said.
“We even put our lives on the line at that time, but unfortunately, we were never recognised politically, either as individuals or for the constituencies we represented.”
The former presidential candidate said the experience contributed to his growing desire for political change in the country.
Kwankwaso also criticised the current administration of President Bola Tinubu, saying many Nigerians are dissatisfied with the state of the nation.
According to him, worsening economic and political conditions have intensified calls for change across the country.
“Everybody knows there are issues with this administration,” he stated.
“That is why many people at the grassroots and even among political leaders now believe there should be significant changes.”
