Kwankwaso Rules Out Stepping Down for ADC, Says Party Offers No Better Alternative Than APC

Former Kano State Governor and Vice-president candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has ruled out withdrawing from the 2027 presidential race in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that the party offers no better alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso, in a statement issued on his social media handles, accused the ADC Presidential Campaign Council of spreading claims that his political camp was working for the APC or planning to step down for the ADC candidate ahead of the election.

He insisted that neither he nor his running mate, Peter Obi, would withdraw from the race for the ADC or any other party.

“We will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party,” Kwankwaso said.

He also accused the ADC campaign team of targeting him, Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) instead of presenting its candidate’s credentials to Nigerians.

Kwankwaso challenged the ADC to focus on allegations reportedly levelled against its candidate by Vice President Kashim Shettima rather than attacking his party.

Dismissing claims that his ticket was working for the APC, the former governor described the NDC as a credible opposition platform capable of addressing Nigeria’s security, economic and social challenges.

“The APC-led government has failed Nigerians. The ADC offers no better alternative,” he said.

Kwankwaso urged his supporters to remain committed to the NDC, expressing confidence that the party could attract support across Northern and Southern Nigeria.
