The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has picked Ladipo Johnson as his running mate for the 2023 elections.
Johnson, a lawyer, was a former governorship candidate of the Alliance National Party (ANP) in Lagos State before joining NNPP.
However, report has it that he was named as a “placeholder” to meet up the June 17 deadline of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for submission of political parties’ candidates.
In a related development, the Labour Party had also named Doyin Okupe as its vice-presidential candidate. However, the ex-presidential aide said he was “standing in” as Peter Obi’s running mate.
Meanwhile, there are indications that a potential coalition is likely to happen between Labour Party and NNPP, as talks have been confirmed to be underway.
