Truck drivers operating for Dangote Industries have raised concerns over alleged harassment by some newly acquired shareholders following the commencement of the company’s share offering.
The drivers reportedly said some investors have been approaching and stopping them while on duty, claiming that their newly acquired shares give them the right to question or direct the drivers.
According to reports, one of the drivers said he was approached by three different people within a day, with the individuals allegedly insisting that they now had a stake in the company because they had bought its shares.
The drivers expressed concern that the actions of some investors could disrupt their operations and create unnecessary tension on the road.
The development comes amid heightened public interest in Dangote’s share offering, which has attracted retail investors seeking to own a stake in the company.
While shareholders have rights as investors, ownership of shares does not ordinarily confer authority to directly supervise or control company employees and contractors in their day-to-day duties.
