The Canadian High Commission in Nigeria has announced a temporary suspension of its operations till further notice in the country.
The embassy gave the announcement of the suspension of its activities via its X account, (formerly Twitter) late Monday night.
There were speculations that the development may be linked to the fire incident that occurred at the commission on Monday.
It was learnt that there would be no provision of visa and immigration services for persons seeking to visit or emigrate to Canada pending the resumption of operations.
Also, there would be no offer of services to Canadians visiting and living in Nigeria and to Canadians in Equatorial Guinea, as well as Sao Tome and Principe.
The announcement reads, “The High Commission of Canada to #Nigeria, in #Abuja, has temporarily suspended operations until further notice.”
