By JULY 24: CELEBRATING PRINCESS FOLASHADE OLABANJI OBA, A TRUE GRASSROOT GAME CHANGER, ACTIVIST, ICON
When she rolled out her team’s laudable agenda and manifesto back in 2014, for many voters within the Ikorodu environs, it was pretty much the same old empty promises made by politicians in time past, little did they know that Ikorodu Local Government Area was set to experience a renewed drive for development even at the grassroots level.

It is not every time in Nigeria’s political scene you get to see a vibrant ‘second in command’ or a ‘second in command’ who from inception of her administration positioned her office to strategically bring about people’s oriented programmes that seek to make better in every ramification, the lives of those she represents and make her jurisdiction up to speed with global standards.
She has continually pursued a better Ikorodu Local Government Area with vigor, innovative ideas, determination and compassion. Little wonder she emerged last year, the first female National Deputy Chairman, Association of Local Governemt Vice – Chairman in Nigeria.
These and more are apt descriptions of the life of Princess Folashade Olabanji Oba, a devout Christian and leader, who reckons that any passion for humanity is an extension of service to God almighty.
She has been consistent in this belief over the years, making her presence felt in various capacities aside the political office she currently holds. She also gives back through her Shelter of Grace Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that tries to transform lives in her Ikorodu neighbourhood.
She also runs Pacific Capital Limited, a real estate and brokerage firm in Lagos, with annex in London. Folashade is hope personified for the downtrodden and less privileged, as her determination is making a difference in the lives of so many others.
As she adds another year to life, it is pertinent to note some of her recent giant strides that is making the whole difference in Ikorodu’s local government administration.
It is on records that courtesy Princess Folashade Olabanji Oba and the office she holds, Ikorodu played host to the first ever sports summit by any local Government Area in Nigeria last year. This brought together key stakeholders across the country to jaw-jaw on ways sports can be developed in the state thereby reaching 10 resolutions which was sent to the office of the governor. The crux of the programme was that she deemed it fit to involve disabled and physically challenged athletes in the summit.
Her office in conjunction with that of the Local Government Area Chairman and Office of the Governor had put together a number of social gathering that contributed in no small measure to the unity of community members. One of such gathering was bringing to Ikorodu a well-organized viewing centre for football enthusiast during the FIFA World Cup last year.
The UN Ambassador for Peace has also played host to several meetings that had as its major discussion the development of agriculture and youths within the Ikorodu environs.
Princess Folashade Olabanji Oba as member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC played a major role in mobilizing voters in Ikorodu which saw to the emergence of the current administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
For this beautiful and energetic enigma of hope, adding value seems to be the hallmark of her life even as she adds a year today, she is expected as a speaker at the Lagos State University in a programme organized by the National Union of Lagos State Students, NULASS to talk about Building 21st Century Lagos. For her, it is a case of no retreating, no surrendering!

No doubt, it is very pertinent to note that Princess Folashade deserves to be celebrated like Mandela because as a proud daughter of Ikorodu, she has greatly contributed to the growth and development of the prestigious town. No doubt, she deserves to be celebrated like Mandela.
