Inter Milan forward, Ivan Perisic, arrived London in the early hours of Tuesday for a medical at Tottenham, ahead of an imminent move to the club.
The versatile Croatian who can play as a wing-back and a forward, is set to join Tottenham Hotspur on a two-year contract after an agreement has been reached with Inter Milan, and becomes one of Antonio Conte’s first signings of the transfer window.
Inter Milan football chief executive, Giuseppe Marotta, confessed that he wanted to keep the Croatian this summer, but was unable to convince him to stay in Milan.
“There is regret, but he wanted to try a new experience in the Premier League.” Marotta said in an interview with Diletta Leotta.
“We were not in a position to make better offers, simply his choice was based on a different future than the current one. Maximum respect for that and a big thank you to him as well,” he added.
The 33-year-old has played 113 times for his country and scoring 32 goals till date. He also scored a memorable goal in the 2018 World Cup final in Russia.
He has been at Inter since 2015 and won Serie A last season under former Inter Milan coach, Antonio Conte, after spending the 2019-20 season on loan at Bayern Munich where he won the Champions League title.
