Ikorodu West LCDA Organises Stakeholders’ Forum On 2021 Budget

The leadership of Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area, on Tuesday December 29th, held its annual Stakeholders Consultative Forum to discuss the Year 2021 Budget.

In her speech, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olajumoke Ademehin-Jimbo, highlighted the progress made by the Council since the last year, stating some of the projects that were embarked upon. She, however, said not all the requests made at the last stakeholders’ forum were met due to financial limitations caused by the pandemic.

The chair also mentioned that the Council distributed palliatives to residents in order to subsidize the economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She stated some of the programmes carried out by the Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Department which included a skill acquisition training on polythene products for widows, unemployed, women, youth, some retired and about-to-retire staff of the local council.

In attendance at the event were the Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Bashir Aremu Shotonwa; the Olisa of Ipakodo, Baales, representatives of the Community Development Committee (CDC), religious leaders, youth leaders, among others.

In their respective comments, residents made different requests which summarily revolve around basic amenities such as motorable roads, drainage system, public markets, potable water, youth empowerment, financial support for artisans and enterprising residents and security. The chairman assured them that all demands will be looked into and worked upon.

The Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Bashir Aremu Shotonwa, implored the leadership of the council to listen to the demands of the residents. While the Chief Imam of Ikorodu West, Alhaji Mustapha Aridegbe said each Councilor knows the problems facing their respective wards, urging them to do the needful.

To the Olisa of Ipakodo who spoke before the arrival of the monarch, the importance of revenue generation cannot be overemphasized. He advised the Council’s leadership to become more creative in areas of collection of taxes/rates and exploring available opportunities around.
