Ijede LCDA chair gives account of 100-day stewardship, Iaunches food support for 600 families

The Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, on Monday, rendered an account of stewardship of her administration in the last 100 days.

While highlighting achievements since assumption of office at the brief event held in the council secretariat, she mentioned that the leadership of the LCDA immediately hit the ground running through strategic visits, consultations, and prompt actions.

“As a people-oriented administration, we hold a firm resolve to impact the lives of residents; both young and old. Admittedly, we have a number of challenges particularly in the areas of revenue base. However, we have been able to deliver on some of our promises,” she said.

Gbadebo-Alogba spoke on the efforts of her administration in several sectors covering education, infrastructure, health and environment.

She said, “In the area of education, which is the bedrock of societal development, we distributed educational materials to indigent pupils in primary and secondary schools. This, we believe, will relieve the burden on their parents/guardians.

“We also facilitated the construction of additional classrooms at the Vocational Center situated at Igbe-Ogunro through our representative in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson.”

On infrastructure, the council boss said, “We facilitated the ongoing installation of street lights on Adetona Bello Street, Area’N’Police station through Hon. Babajimi Benson. As soon as the rainfall reduces, we intend to rehabilitate the Mayflower Road/ Falilat Ajoke Street.”

In the areas of health, Gbadebo-Alogba mentioned the creation of the End Malaria Project to contain the spread of malaria in infants and breastfeeding mothers.

“Cleanliness, they say, is next to godliness. Following this mantra and the need to ensure a clean and healthy environment, we facilitated distilling of community drainage through the Lagos State Ministry of Environment, to combat the detrimental effects of flooding on our roads,” Gbadebo-Alogba stated while speaking on the environment.

To commemorate 100 days in office, she launched a food support program tagged “Ijede Tunrayo Ayo Nitemi” with about 600 households as the first set of beneficiaries.

“This initiative will be done quarterly to ensure that we provide succour to our people particularly in these trying times,” she said.

Accompanied by her team, the council boss had earlier presented some of the food packs to elderly persons who couldn’t make it to the venue.

The event had in attendance dignitaries such as a former Lagos deputy governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye; member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun; the Obateru of Egbin, Oba Akeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo; immediate past chairman of Ijede LCDA, Alhaji Fatiu Salisu, Olisa of Ijede, Chief Sunday Aro, among others.
