The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has reinstated its suspended Students’ Union Government (SUG) President, Comrade James Iyanuoluwa Adio, alongside other students who were previously sanctioned by the institution.
The information was confirmed in a post made on Wednesday by NANS President, Akinteye Babatunde on his official X handle.
The development followed what stakeholders described as high-level diplomatic engagements between the university management and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), leading to an amicable resolution of the matter.
According to reports, NANS played a significant role in facilitating discussions with the university authorities, resulting in the affected students being cleared to participate in their ongoing examinations alongside their colleagues.
The intervention was led by NANS leadership, which sought a peaceful resolution to the dispute and advocated for the academic interests of the affected students.
Meanwhile, during the period of the suspension and subsequent negotiations, FUOYE proceeded with its Students’ Union elections through an electronic voting process.
At the end of the exercise, Ajayi Olusegun Samuel, popularly known as AOS The Unifier, emerged as the newly elected SUG President.
The reinstatement of Adio and other suspended students is expected to bring closure to the controversy that had generated discussions within the university community and among student bodies nationwide.
Neither the university management nor NANS has publicly disclosed further details of the agreement that led to the resolution of the matter.
