Funke Akindele Missing As Father Is Buried In Ikorodu

Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele was conspicuously missing as her father was laid to final rest in Ikorodu yesterday, January 17, 2020.

Funke Akindele-Bello of the “Jenifa’s Diary” fame had taken to her Instagram page on December 9, 2019, to announce the demise of her father, Revd Godwin Akindele.

The retired Secondary School principal who fathered Funke Akindele on August 24, 1977, in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria, was regarded as a man of honour who served God diligently during his lifetime at Patriarch Bolaji Methodist Cathedral, Ita-Elewa, Ikorodu.

Following the internment, the minister in charge of the cathedral, Reverend Oluwole Adegbola, revealed that
the outing and Thanksgiving service for the deceased will be done when his popular daughter Funke Akindele better know as Jenifer and her siblings are available to celebrate the man of honour and dignity.

While many are wondering why Funke Akindele-Bello who came to limelight after being (she) featured in popular United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)-sponsored sitcom “I Need to Know”, which ran from 1998 to 2002, was not present at her father’s burial, it done on many that she actually announced his demise two days after the man died.

According to the burial arrangements sponsored by Christ The King Society of the Patriarch Bolaji Methodist Cathedral, Ikorodu, Jenifer’s dad died on December 7, 2019, at the age of 73 years.

It was reliably gathered that all through the three days event that started with the Service of Songs sponsored by Christ The King Society of the Patriarch Bolaji Methodist Cathedral and CDA Rofo Temidire Estate, Odogunyan, Ikorodu, on January 15, 2020, to the wake keep service that took place at the Church’s premises on Thursday, January 16, 2020, and the final internment at his Ibeshe resident on Friday, January 17, 2020, Funke Akindele-Bello did not attend any.

Giving what she posted to announced her father’s death, many are of the view that things were cordial between father and daughter as at the time he took his last breathe.
