It appears the battle for the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 polls is getting more intense as former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose joins the race.

Fayose, who recently withdrew his membership from the PDP Zoning Committee, has officially taken a bold step to pursue his presidential bid.

The former governor, on Wednesday, picked up the PDP’s Expression of Interest and Nomination form. While the former costs around N35 million, the latter is pegged at N5 million.

This development makes Fayose the second presidential aspirant from the Southwest region of the country — after media mogul, Chief Dele Momodu.

Other strong PDP members who have purchased the party’s presidential forms include former vice president, Atiku Abubakar; former senate president, Bukola Saraki; Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike; former secretary to the government of the federation, Anyim Pius Anyim; former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, among others.

Meanwhile, there are feelers that the PDP is currently is a state of confusion over zoning of the presidential ticket, as more aspirants continue to pick their nomination forms ahead of the April 8 deadline.
