Nigerian Afrobeat star, Davido has broken a record with his new album, ‘Timeless’ as it becomes the first African album to top the United States (US) iTunes chart.
Africa Facts Zone, revealed this on its Twitter page, saying that the album is also the highest-charting African Album on US Apple Music.
“Davido’s Timeless album becomes the first African album to top the US iTunes Albums Chart.
“It is also the highest charting African album on US Apple Music with a peak of no. 2,” the tweet reads.
The 17-track album has been making waves since its release on March 31st as it witnessed the biggest album first-day streams in the history of Audiomack, Boomplay as well as Apple music with over one million streams in six hours.
Davido, while speaking in an interview shortly before his album release, revealed that Timeless was indeed going to be “Timeless” and true to these words, the album is currently the first and only afrobeats album to debut all tracks in the top 100 of the United Kingdom Apple Music top songs chart.
Global streaming giant, Spotify also said that Davido’s album is the most streamed in the United Kingdom, Canada, France and Nigeria.
