Buhari’s minister buys N100m APC presidential nomination forms

It appears the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba has taken his 2023 presidential ambition more seriously after he purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Report has it that the minister picked up both the forms pegged at N100 million, on Wednesday — becoming the first presidential aspirant under APC to buy the forms.

The funds were reportedly raised for the Imo State-born politician by a support group known as Project Nigeria.

Nwajiuba’s decision to purchase the nomination forms have since attracted criticisms from Nigerians on social media who consider the move insensitive to the plight of Nigerian students currently at home due to the ongoing industrial action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The minister will be jostling for the APC presidential ticket alongside some of his counterparts in the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration. It would be recalled that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi have both declared interest in the 2023 presidency.

Other APC bigwigs in the race for the nation’s top job, include former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu; former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, among others. Meanwhile, the primaries of the APC is billed to hold in May.
