The immediate past Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo state, Eyitayo Jegede has emerged the candidate of the PDP for the upcoming gubernatorial elections.
Jegede polled 760 votes to defeat his only rival, Saka Lawal who had a scanty 22 votes. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has before now been perceived as the candidate of the outgoing governor, Olusegun Mimiko.
He resigned as the state legal officer on Friday, July 22 this year to pursue the ticket and will now be facing whoever emerges the candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress which has been involved in an internal crisis on the road to the selection of a flag bearer.
