Nigerian musician-turned-politician, Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the House of Representatives, Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 elections.
Report has it that Wellington polled 28 votes to clinch the PDP ticket ahead of other contenders at the primary election.
It would be recalled that the 41-year-old had expressed confidence in the party, despite the delay and controversies that surrounded the exercise which commenced on Sunday.
“You need two things to win: the grace of God and the will of the people. I am very optimistic that I have both, and at the end of the day, that will be clear for everyone to see, and we can move forward together,” he told NAN in an interview.
In the 2019 elections, Wellington contested for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP). He, however, lost to Ibrahim Obanikoro of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
