Chelsea are enduring another difficult outing after falling behind to Nottingham Forest FC in their Premier League clash on Monday, suffering a massive 3-1 defeat.

Taiwo Awoniyi opened the scoring for Forest, rising to head home from close range and give the visitors an early advantage at Stamford Bridge.

Forest quickly built on that momentum, with reports indicating the visitors extended their lead to 2-0 in the first half, leaving Chelsea struggling to respond in front of their home fans.

The match, played on a Bank Holiday Monday, came at a crucial stage of the season for both sides. Chelsea entered the game under pressure, having lost five consecutive league matches and slipping out of the European qualification spots.

In contrast, Nottingham Forest arrived in strong form, unbeaten in six league matches and pushing to secure their Premier League status.

With the Blues chasing the game and Forest looking composed on the counter, the result if it holds could further deepen Chelsea’s struggles while boosting Forest’s survival hopes.

Despite severe pressure mounted on Chelsea throughout the game, Joao Pedro was able to secure a goal for the blues in extra time.

Adding to Chelsea’s concerns are injury setbacks, including a worrying incident involving teenage forward Jesse Derry, who was rushed to hospital after a head collision during a recent match.

Beyond immediate issues, analysts point to deeper structural problems, including heavy spending on transfers, managerial instability and internal tensions within the squad. The club has also faced financial scrutiny in recent months, including sanctions and fines linked to past regulatory breaches.

Together, these challenges have fuelled the perception that Chelsea are in a period of crisis, with questions growing over their long-term direction under current ownership.
