Shams-El-Deen Alumni Association Honours Lagos Assembly Aspirant Bolowotan at Maiden Sports Fiesta

The Shams-El-Deen Grammar School (SGS) Alumni Association, Ikorodu, has conferred honorary membership on former Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon. Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan who is aspiring for a seat in the Lagos State house of assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency I.

The recognition was announced during the maiden edition of the SGS Alumni Sports Fiesta held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the school premises on Ayanbadejo Street, Ikorodu.

The event attracted over 500 alumni members and featured more than 10 sporting activities, including football, table tennis, track and field, and other indoor games. Bolowotan also chaired the occasion.

Speaking at the event, the association’s president, Engr. Dr. Idowu Hamed Ademayowa, said Bolowotan was selected for the honour in recognition of his achievements in public office and his commitment to sports development.

He highlighted Bolowotan’s contributions during his tenure at the Lagos State Sports Commission and his role in nurturing young talents through Ikorodu City Football Club, noting that these efforts have had a positive impact on many youths.

Ademayowa added that the association unanimously chose Bolowotan to chair the Sports Fiesta, citing his track record in youth and sports development.

In his remarks, Bolowotan expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it as meaningful and encouraging.

The SGS Alumni Association also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening unity among members and promoting sports as a tool for youth empowerment and community development.
