Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has added another academic qualification to his name after graduating from the PFA Business School with a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship.
Awoniyi, who plays for Coventry City, announced the feat on his social media page, sharing pictures from his graduation.
The 28-year-old completed the programme with Merit, marking another step in his efforts to prepare for life beyond his playing career.
“Another proud moment for me off the pitch,” Awoniyi said.
“I have always believed that being a footballer shouldn’t stop you from being a student of the game and education has become an important part of that journey for me.”
The latest qualification is not Awoniyi’s first academic achievement.
In 2022, the striker graduated from Buckinghamshire New University in the United Kingdom with a degree in Business Management.
Awoniyi began his professional football career at Imperial Soccer Academy before moving to Liverpool in 2015. He has since played for several clubs in Europe, including Mainz, Gent, Union Berlin and Nottingham Forest.
While continuing his career on the pitch, the Nigerian forward is now building an academic foundation that could serve him in football administration and management after his playing days.
“Still playing. Still learning. The journey continues,” he wrote.
