Senator Solomon Adeola, the APC governorship candidate in Ogun State, has threatened legal action against two individuals over claims that he is an indigene of Ekiti State.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, gave Hon. Abayomi Hunye and PDP chieftain Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello 24 hours to provide evidence supporting their claims or face lawsuits.
According to a statement by his media adviser, Kayode Odunaro, the allegations were made during separate interviews on Channels Television programmes.
Adeola described the claims as false and libellous, insisting that the two individuals should produce evidence of his state of origin.
The controversy comes ahead of the 2027 Ogun governorship election, with questions over Adeola’s ancestral ties resurfacing.
Traditional leaders in Kemta, Ogun State, had recently affirmed Adeola’s ancestral connection to the community.
The Oluwo of Kemta and Baaye of Egbaland, Chief Abayomi Rotimi, said Adeola remained a son of the community regardless of political differences.
Adeola currently represents Ogun West in the Senate and is the APC candidate for the 2027 Ogun governorship election.
