It is a great year for Nigerian women in sports as Super Falcons forward and FC Barcelona Femeni striker, Asisat Oshoala, becomes the first African to receive the Pichichi award.
Oshoala bagged this award for being the top scorer in the Spanish Primera Division Women League season with a total of 20 goals.
The forward achieved great feats in the last season as she played a major role in the crowning of Barcelona as La Liga champions for the third time in a row and seventh overall after winning all 30 of their games.
Earlier in August, the 27-year-old emerged as the first African woman to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or féminin.
Oshoala also holds the sole record for winning the most awards in the CAF Women’s Footballer of the Year.
