The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has released details of his burial programme, inviting friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers to participate in the final rites honouring the actor.
The funeral announcement was signed by Mazi Alex Oji Ekubo Okwaraeke (Ugwuaro) on behalf of the family.
Ekubo died on May 11, 2026, at Evercare Hospital following complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer. His death sparked an outpouring of tributes from across Nigeria’s entertainment industry and beyond.
In a statement posted on the actor’s Instagram page on Monday, the family thanked the public for the support, prayers and condolences received since his passing. They described the late actor as a cheerful and generous individual whose life touched many people.
According to the burial schedule, a Service of Songs will hold on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Guests are expected to wear white.
A Wake Keep is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the family residence located at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.
The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, after which the actor will be interred at his family compound in Ujari Village.
A reception will follow immediately after the burial at the same venue, with white designated as the official dress code for all funeral events.
The family expressed appreciation for the love and encouragement shown during their period of mourning, noting that the support has provided comfort and strength. They also appealed for continued prayers for the late actor’s wife and the entire Ekubo-Okwaraeke family.
