Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has threatened to remove any local government chairman who fails to deliver his or her council to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
Nwifuru issued the warning on Tuesday in Abakaliki while inaugurating the newly elected chairmen and vice-chairmen of the state’s 13 local government areas.
The governor said any chairman whose council is lost to the opposition would be removed and replaced with a councillor.
“Any chairman who fails to win his council will be removed from office and replaced with a councillor,” Nwifuru said.
He also directed the council bosses to work towards securing 100 per cent victory for the APC in the 2027 elections, warning them against allowing opposition parties to gain ground in their areas.
Nwifuru further urged the newly inaugurated chairmen and their deputies to work together and avoid rivalry that could undermine the administration of their councils.
