‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ Author Kiyosaki Reveals $1.2bn Debt

Robert Kiyosaki, author of the bestselling personal finance book Rich Dad Poor Dad, has revealed that he is involved in about $1.2 billion in debt through his real estate investments.

Kiyosaki, who has long advocated the strategic use of debt to acquire income-generating assets, said the debt is linked largely to properties held with business partners.

Reports quoting his former wife and business partner, Kim Kiyosaki, clarified that the $1.2 billion figure does not represent Kiyosaki’s personal debt alone.

The investments reportedly involve about 1,500 apartment units, with the debt attached to the properties and shared among the partners.

Kiyosaki has maintained that wealthy investors can use borrowed money to acquire assets capable of generating income, rather than relying solely on personal savings.

His disclosure has drawn attention because of the contrast between his financial philosophy and the size of the debt associated with his investments.

Despite the revelation, Kiyosaki has continued to defend the strategic use of debt, while warning that people should understand the risks involved before adopting his approach.
