A vacant councillorship seat in Kayode/Fadeyi Ward H of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has been filled following a by-election conducted by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

The seat became vacant last year after the death of the councillor, Hon. Zainab Adeshewa Shotayo who previously represented the ward.

At the conclusion of the poll, LASIEC declared Shotayo Samiat Adebisi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner after she polled 3,820 votes.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Ifeanyi Abidemi Onwenu, secured 260 votes, while the National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate received 26 votes.

LASIEC stated that the by-election was necessary to restore full representation to the ward and ensure residents continue to have an elected voice in local governance.

The commission described the election as peaceful, transparent and credible, noting that electoral materials arrived on schedule and voting proceeded without major incidents.

Adebisi’s emergence marks the official replacement of her late sister who previously occupied the seat.
