LAHA 2019: Lamina Receives Massive Support At Flag off, Promises Better Representation

One noticeable fact across major roads within Ikorodu Constituency 1, Yesterday, Saturday December 23, 2018, was the massive crowd adorning shirts and caps with the names of Hon. Mukaila Ajagun Lamina, the Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP for Ikorodu Constituency 1, Lagos state House of Assembly 2019 election written boldly on them.

The event started with a rally within the Aga area of the Constituency at exactly 7am, to mark the flag off campaign. The candidate subsequently took a tour through Ireshe area of Pushoku, down to Ojogbe before it headed to the Ayanburen’s Palace where the paramount ruler through his secretary assured the candidate of a level playing field as the throne will not be baised towards anyone in the forthcoming election.

The campaign train afterwards moved to Ikorodu roundabout with teeming supporters chanting Lamina until it arrived at the Sabo market area of the Constituency where it was received by the Hausa community who also pledged their support to the PDP candidate and assured him of their votes briefly before the candidate and his mammoth supporters moved through Ota Ona, Ijomu, Ita-Aro, Obun-Ale and Ejino before proceeding to Ita-Elewa the venue for the flag off at exactly 12:31 PM.

Lamina while addressing the supporters commended the unprecedented turn out of people at the venue saying it is a clear indication that the years of rubber-stamping legislation that impoverishes the people is over.
He showered praises on Ikorodu for been noted for its independence of thought and resolute spirit to return power back to the people.

The Ikorodu born politician, explained that his sole intention for contesting in the election is to bring about people oriented and better representation through effective lawmaking and proactive oversight at the hollowed chambers that will make the lives of members of Ikorodu Constituency 1 better.

He also took time to explain some of his legislative agenda that he referred to as key ingredients that will bring the better things to the Constituency. He emphasised sectors like Transportation, Education, Healthcare amongst others.

“Today, the BRT terminal plays host to hundreds of commuters daily who experience preventable delays in accessing BRT buses. I intend to initiate reform bills and work passionately to ensure that commuters enjoy wider choices on the road and waterways. I will seek to strengthen Public Private Partnership (PPP) in making our public transportation infrastructures more efficient and people friendly.

”The e-Empower bill I will be introducing is a holistic, sustainable, practical legislative effort at making our youths economically empowered and our women financially stronger.

”Single mothers, divorcees and widows shall receive special status for financial funding for any business of their choice.

”If given your mandate, I plan on bringing on board legislative reforms that will make public education from primary to secondary school the preferred choice for parents, civil and public servants” Lamina Explained.

Lamina who has been in the political landscape of Ikorodu for over 15 years, expressed confidence at the polls and tagged the rally as the beginning of the process to enmacipate the Constituency and make it prosperous.

“Today, by popular demand and will of God, we initiate the process of emancipating our Constituency and returning it to the path of glory.” He assured.

A major highlight of the event was the official presentation of the Party’s flag, by the Ikorodu Local Government Chairman of the Party Chief Adekogbe to Hon. Lamina.

The event had in attendance Mr Damola Olawale who represented the governorship candidate of the party in Lagos, Mr Jimi Agbaje, Mrs Dewunmi who represented the Party Chairman at the state chapter, Mr Adegbola Dominic.

As part of efforts to ensure victory at the poll for Lamina, Members of the Hausa Community in the Constituency, South- South Community, Ward 2 Ward Association also promised to embark on a two week house to house campaign on behalf of the candidate. The Asa cultural troopes in promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Constituency showcased their creative ingenuity during the event. Many party faithfuls and community members were all in attendance to support the PDP candidate.
