Victor Osimhen, the 24-year-old Nigerian sensation, has been crowned the Serie A Player of the Year for the 2022/2023 season at the AIC Oscar del Calcio Awards.
The Gran Gala del Calcio, held in Milan on Monday evening, was organised by AIC, the organisation that protects and assists professional footballers across Serie A, B, Lega Pro and women’s football.
In recognition of his impressive performance, Osimhen earned a spot in Serie A’s best XI for the 2022/23 season.
Notably, the Super Eagles striker secured the eighth position at this year’s Ballon d’Or rankings, surpassing all other African contenders. His historic placement made him the first Nigerian to enter the top ten of the Ballon d’Or.
Osimhen has also been shortlisted for the 2023 CAF Footballer of the Year prize, further solidifying his status as one of Africa’s footballing gems.
