TRUMP’S LOBBYIST WRITES SARAKI, SAYS CHANCES OF PDP WINNING PRESIDENTIAL RACE IS SLIM
Blackbox Nigeria reveals that hired United States based lobbyist of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Brain D. Ballard of Ballad Partners has expressed his worries over PDP winning Saturday’s Presidential election.
The expert lobbyist made this known via a confidential letter recently written to the Director General of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation, Dr Bukola Saraki calling his attention to the not encouraging results of the public opinion poll conducted for his consultancy firm on behalf of the presidential candidate of the PDP.
According to Ballad the reality of the opinion poll was entirely different from what the PDP team announced in the public domain which was devoid of adequate sample size due to the diverse nature of the country.
The influential lobbyist who has Donald Trump as one of his client while explaining the inadequacy of figures obtained earlier revealed that the previous opinion poll conducted by the party represented less than the 250 persons per geopolitical zone and didn’t cover more than 2 states per zone. He explained that the remote rural areas which represented Buhari’s stronghold were left out of the poll.
In the letter:
“The results of the poll are, to put it bluntly, very negative for us. They dramatically differ from those you recently announced. My pollster experts assured me that the reason is that the sample was not enough for a diverse country as Nigeria. They interviewed only 1550 people which is less than 250 per geographical zone; and they couldn’t cover more than 2 states per zone.”
“We can also be sure that they haven’t reached remote rural areas which are Buhari’s strongholds. You might remember that Hilary lost bto us in 2016 because of overconfidence induced partly by erroneous poll results.”
While dropping the bombshell that the actual figures from the poll reveals a very slim chance of winning, Ballad called for urgent steps to be taken to rectify the situation.
The rest of the letter read:
“Our figures demonstrate that we have a very slim chance of winning. I believe that all possible urgent steps need to be taken to rectify the situation. As you may recall, as far back as mid-December, you referred to possible steps required to guarantee an upper hand. These steps should now be taken”
“We have reviewed the situation and we have come up with some ideas which I will share with you at our next meetings.”
One will recall that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hired the firm of Brian Ballard, a top US lobbyist, ahead of the 2019 elections via a contract that was signed on September 21st 2018 for a year with the agreement to pay $90,000 (N31.5m) to Ballard Partners Inc. on a monthly basis throughout the duration of the contract.
Politico Magazine, a top publication in the US, says Ballard is closer to the US president than perhaps any other lobbyist in town.
