Top FG official dies during office brawl with female employee

What started as an office brawl has led to the death of the North West Zonal Head of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Julius Haruna.

According to the Board Secretary of the FCCPC, Tam Tamunokonbia, the late Director was involved in a dispute with a junior employee identified as Muibat Abdusalam, in his office in Katsina, last Wednesday.

The argument, which later escalated to fisticuffs, would cost Haruna his life as he died in the process. It was said that the clash was over alleged sexual harassment by the deceased.

In a statement on Tuesday confirming the incident, Tamunokonbia disclosed that the Commission’s Governing Board has instituted a panel to investigate his death.

According to him, the panel will be chaired by a legal practitioner and Board Member, Ben Nwoye, and co-chaired by retired Air Vice Marshal Wakili Ahmed, another member of the Board.

While representatives from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and Office of the Head of Service of the Federation had been invited as members of the panel.

Tamunokonbia added the embattled employee, Abdusalam has been detained by the Katsina State Police Command amid ongoing investigations into Haruna’s death.
