Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has shared a throwback to his N200 million donation to the Sir Michael Otedola Scholarship Scheme, made 21 years ago at a 2005 ceremony chaired by then-Lagos Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a recent post on Instagram, Otedola recalled the March 30, 2005 event, noting that “21 years ago today,” Tinubu, who now serves as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria chaired the Sir Michael Otedola Scholarship Scheme Award Ceremony.
“At the ceremony I donated N200,000,000 (two hundred million naira only) to the scholarship scheme founded by my late father in 1987, continuing our family’s commitment to investing in education,” Otedola wrote.
Sir Michael Otedola, Femi’s late father, was a former Governor of Lagos State from 1992 to 1993. He founded the scholarship scheme in 1987 to support students.
The Sir Michael Otedola Scholarship Scheme continues to support indigent students in Lagos State, nearly four decades after it was established.
