The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has denied claims that its Head of Public Affairs predicted a looming national blackout.

In a statement on Tuesday, the company asserted that such assertions are false and misleading.

Reports have it that electricity workers have initiated a nationwide strike, resulting in the shutdown of the national grid.

But the TCN labeled the publication as false and misleading.

“The Transmission Company hereby states that the publication by Daily Post alleging that the Head of Public Affairs of TCN said that there will be a national blackout is false and totally misleading,” the statement read in part.

“The statement is mischievous and baseless as TCN, through the Public Affairs Head, did not make such statements.

“We hereby note that the nation’s grid is intact and supplying bulk electricity to distribution load centers nationwide.”
