Nigeria’s Super Falcons booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a commanding 6-2 victory over Egypt in their final Group C match on Wednesday.
Needing all three points to keep their title defence alive, the ten-time African champions produced an emphatic attacking display at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca to secure qualification for the knockout stage.
The Falcons, who had opened their campaign with a shock defeat to Malawi before bouncing back with a narrow win over Zambia, dominated proceedings against the North Africans from the opening whistle.
The six-goal haul marked Nigeria’s biggest win of the tournament so far and ensured they advanced to the last eight in style.
Egypt, meanwhile, exited the competition after suffering their third consecutive defeat in the group stage.
The result underlined Nigeria’s attacking quality after a mixed start to the tournament and kept alive their hopes of retaining the WAFCON title.
The Super Falcons will now await their quarter-final opponents as they continue their quest for another continental crown.
