SIGH OF RELIEF AS HOPE EMERGE PROVIDES FREE MEDICAL AID TO RESIDENTS OF ALOGOMEJI IN YABA LCDA
Reprieve came the way of residents in Alogomeji-Yaba Local Council Development Area, LCDA on Saturday, October 19th, 2019 as a philanthropic foundation, Hope Emerge with its team of medical experts offered free medical care and services to residents with various medical challenges.
The event tagged “Medical Mission Clinic”, to the surprise of beneficiaries who thronged into the Railway Recreation Club of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Alogomeji-Yaba in their hundreds featured segments that not only enlightened them on how to live healthily but provided an all free basic medical prescription, diagnosis and the distribution of medical materials.
Some of the major highlights of the event anchored by both international and local professionals in their various fields include; free medical checkups, Diagnostic Tests, Vision screening and medication management.
In her remark, Vivian Adelakun, Founder and President of the Hope Emerge initiative, the brain behind the outreach, expressed that the annual event was triggered by the need to give back to the society and make it conducive to live in irrespective of social or financial status.
The President while highlighting the humanitarian objectives of the organization, also took out time to explain that plans are ongoing to keep the initiative sustained and continuous which involves reaching out to well-meaning personalities and organizing fundraising events like the one slated to hold on Sunday 20th October 2019 at the Radisson-Blu Hotel in Ikeja.
In her words,
“The programme is about giving back to the community, reaching out to them, trying to offer help the less privileged and providing free medical care and advice amongst others.
“The organization has been able to cater for pregnant women from the initial stage of pregnancy until delivery, help indigent children with school fees, help the poorest to start businesses, provisions of food staples and other life’s necessities
Speaking on affiliation, Vivian Adelakun reiterated that Hope Emerge is a stand-alone foundation that believes in the vision of a healthy society and making beneficiaries of any of its event alleviated.
The passionate philanthropist in her concluding remarks with Blackbox Nigeria condemned the spite of underaged pregnancy in the society and assured that the vision of the foundation is to reach all corners of the country with the good news.
In our brief interview with one of the medical experts on ground, Dr. Hamed Ninalowo, an International Vascular Radiologist on a medical mission to Nigeria, revealed that the event centered around primary medical care to take care of the patients blood pressure, sugar level, vascular screening, screen for common disease and put beneficiaries on the right path.
The only Nigerian Vascular and International Radiologist emphasized the need for those in the diaspora like himself to come back home and contribute their quota to national development.
While advising residents on healthy living, he urged them to stay clear from self-medication and ensure they are in constant talks with experts.
Omotayo Omoyeni, a beneficiary in the eyes-checkup segment of the outreach hailed the initiative and Hope Emerge for the selfless service. Happy Omoyeni who was also given free glasses to aid his sight urged the founders to keep up the good work.
Another beneficiary who resides in Shomolu, Miss Queen who hails from Kogi State expressed gratitude to Hope Emerge for making the people’s health priority in their agenda and urged the team to widen their reach across the state.
Mr. Saheed Yusuf who is a librarian with Lagos State Government lauded the organizers for the consistency in reaching out to the poor of the poorest. He also commented that the programme is an improvement of the previous editions
The Hope Emerge initiative which commenced operation with about 13 individuals pulling funds together to start in 2018 has impacted more lives than expected in just a year of its establishment. The event by the humanitarian outfit also featured free raffle giveaways for lucky winners.
