The governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade has lost his bid to represent the Northern Senatorial District of the state under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ayade was defeated at the primary held in Calabar, the state capital on Saturday.
According to the results of the primary, the governor polled 52 votes to lose the APC ticket to Adams Cecelia, who scored 140. Holding the second position is another aspirant, Martin Orim who secured 61 votes.
This development means that Ayade whose two-term as governor ends in 2023 will no longer proceed to the Senate, like some of his counterparts.
It would be recalled that in 2021, he joined the APC after dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
