By A former deputy governor of Lagos State, Dr (Mrs) Idiat Oluranti Adebule has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Lagos West Senatorial seat.
Adebule, who served under immediate past governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, won overwhelmingly at the primary election which took place on Saturday at Agege Stadium, Lagos.
She secured 424 votes out of the total 557 votes, while her closest rival, a former Senator and Minister of State, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro polled 119 votes. A former Commissioner for Transportation in the state, Kayode Opeifa placed third with four votes, with 10 invalid votes.
With this victory, Adebule is the APC flagbearer for the Lagos West Senatorial District elections in 2023.
