Mason beat me to it, diary.
Mofe told me to come clean with Mason and I was going to but he beat me to it.
He came back from school yesterday looking moody and refused to talk to anybody. I kept asking him what happened but he didn’t respond and that worried me.
But then he walked up to me in the evening and popped the question, “Mom, where is my daddy?”
I was caught off-guard and struggled to gain composure. He began to explain how it was father’s day at school and everyone in his class was asked to say something about their father as a hero and he had nothing to say which caused his classmates to laugh and make fun of him.
He cried uncontrollably and told me he wasn’t going to go to school anymore until I told him where his dad was.
I had to explain to him how his dad was a bad man who did terrible things to mummy and how he couldn’t see him now because he was locked up far away. I had to end with a promise of getting him to meet his father somehow before he stopped crying.
But surprisingly he asked, “How bad did he hurt you, mummy?”
I couldn’t respond and merely gave way to tears but Mason took my hands and told me he wasn’t pleased with his dad if he made mommy cry and that he wanted to say that to his face.
I couldn’t help but be amazed at how he took it in and how mature he was.
I only wish things were different. He deserves a complete home.
I’ll do my best to make up for that by showering him with all the love he deserves.
