The bid of Dr. Muritala Ishola Seriki for the Kosofe Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly received a major boost on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, as prominent figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC) publicly aligned with his ambition.
At a well-attended declaration event held at the CMD Funplex Centre Hall, Magodo, Lagos, key political heavyweights signaled their endorsement, reinforcing growing momentum around Seriki’s candidacy.
Among those present was former Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District and member of the influential Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Sen. Ganiu Olanrewaju Solomon, whose presence underscored the strategic importance of the race within party ranks.
Also in attendance was Mr. Olatunji Ashafa, a former Senator and respected political figure in Lagos politics, as well as the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Abisola Olusanya, both of whom are considered critical stakeholders within the state’s political structure.
The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Hon. Samiat Abolanle Bada, alongside Mr. Oluwatosin Ashafa and Mr. Owolabi Falana, a Permanent Board Member of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), further highlighted the depth of institutional and grassroots support trailing the aspirant.
Their collective presence at the event was widely interpreted as a strong vote of confidence in Seriki’s capacity to represent Kosofe Constituency II at the state legislature.
Addressing party faithfuls, Seriki reiterated that his ambition is driven by the need for responsive and result-oriented representation, stressing that the constituency requires a lawmaker who is accessible, vocal, and effective.
“This is a defining moment for our constituency. Our people deserve more than promises; they deserve representation that delivers and speaks for them at all times,” he stated.
Seriki, who currently serves as the Lagos State Youth Leader of the APC, pointed to his leadership experience, including his tenure as Speaker of the Lagos State Youth Parliament, as evidence of his preparedness for legislative responsibility.
The event also drew a wide array of stakeholders, including party executives, ward leaders, community representatives, religious bodies, and grassroots mobilisers from across Kosofe Constituency II.
Observers note that the scale of turnout and the calibre of endorsements may position Seriki as a strong contender in the race, as political activities continue to intensify ahead of party primaries.
