Sanwo-Olu wins as tribunal dismisses AD, LP petitions
It appears Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has now been cleared of any electoral hitches and can now focus on governance as the Lagos State Election Petition Tribunal yesterday dismissed the petitions filed by the candidates of the Alliance for Democracy and Labour Party, Owolabi Salis and Ifagbemi Awamaridi respectively.
Breaking! Ambode won’t be attending Sanwo-Olu’s inauguration
The tribunal headed by Justice T. T. Asia dismissed the petitions because of Salis and Awmaridi’s inability to file applications for pre-hearing conference after the close of pleadings within seven days as prescribed by the law.
Amongst’s other things, the petitions had challenged Sanwo-Olu’s swearing in while alleging that he had a criminal record in the US and wasn’t of sound mind to govern a state.
It would be recalled that these allegations are based on a statement made by the former Lagos Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode after Sanwo-Olu was endorsed to replace him.
