In a significant development ahead of the 2025 Lagos State Local Government elections, seasoned economist and community leader, Sanni Ishola Omotola, has successfully passed the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening process for the chairmanship position of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
Popularly known as S.I. within political and professional circles, Omotola’s successful screening marks a significant step in his long-standing political journey, which has spanned over three decades.
Omotola, 53, scored an impressive 71% in his performance evaluation, joining other five aspirants in the area who were also cleared to proceed to the next stage.
A native of Ikorodu, Omotola brings with him a blend of strong grassroots support and extensive corporate experience, qualities that many say uniquely position him to transform governance in Igbogbo-Baiyeku.
Born in 1971, Omotola attended Eko Akete Grammar School before proceeding to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he earned a degree in Computer Science and Economics.
He also holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Lagos.
Professionally, he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and a licensed Dealing Clerk of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
Omotola’s involvement in politics dates back to his student days, when he actively participated in the National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS).
His formal foray into partisan politics began in 2011 when he contested for the chairmanship position under the platform of the now-defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
Known for his community-oriented approach, Omotola has launched a detailed governance blueprint tagged “Hope 2025” which aligns with Lagos State’s THEMES agenda.
His campaign focuses on six key areas under the acronym THEEPS: Transportation, Healthcare, Education, Environment, Poverty Alleviation, and Security.
With the APC primaries approaching, Omotola is considered one of the leading aspirants in the race.
His supporters believe his combination of technical expertise, political experience, and community engagement gives him a strong edge in the contest.
