Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has taken decisive action in response to the breakdown of law and order by declaring a 24-hour curfew.

The decision came after residents looted warehouses, claiming they were searching for ‘palliatives.’

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, in a statement on Sunday afternoon, said the curfew takes effect immediately on Sunday, July 30, 2023.

He further said the curfew is aimed at curbing the dangerous activities of hoodlums who have been attacking people, breaking into businesses, and homes to steal belongings.

“With the curfew imposed, there will be no movement throughout the state,” he stated.

He however said only individuals on essential duties with valid identification will be allowed to move during this period, as the Governor urges everyone to comply with the directive to maintain peace.

He further stated that anyone found contravening the curfew order will face legal consequences.
