Workers of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) in Murtala Muhammed International Airport have suspended the strike that commenced on Monday, January 23 2023.

The strike, which was reported to be indefinite, was suspended hours after it started as the airport management agreed to meet the terms of the union concerning salary increments.

According to The Punch, the Deputy General Secretary of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN, Frances Akinjole confirmed that the strike had been suspended with the management agreeing to negotiate with them on the salary issue.

“It’s been suspended, and they’ve agreed to commence negotiation on the salary issue with us,” he said.

BlackBox Nigeria had earlier reported that the strike saw travellers stranded as their flights were grounded with airport workers refusing to attend to passengers, and financial losses were also incurred.
