Real Madrid have stepped up efforts to secure the future of Vinicius Junior by offering the Brazilian forward a new contract amid growing interest from Arsenal.
According to ESPN Brasil, the Spanish giants have proposed a deal worth around €22 million per year in a bid to tie the 26-year-old to the Santiago Bernabéu.
However, the offer has reportedly fallen short of Vinicius’ expectations, with the winger seeking a salary closer to €30 million annually.
He is said to believe the new deal could be the last major contract of his career and wants it to reflect his importance and achievements at the club.
Despite the latest proposal, negotiations have yet to progress, with no further meeting currently scheduled between the player’s representatives and Real Madrid.
The contract uncertainty has put Arsenal on alert. The Premier League club are closely monitoring the situation and are reportedly prepared to make Vinicius the highest-paid player in their history should an opportunity arise to sign him.
Vinicius has been one of Real Madrid’s standout performers in recent seasons, making the club determined to fend off interest from Europe’s top teams by securing his long-term commitment.
