Rain Mar Lagos LGA Elections, Low Turn Out Experienced In Obele, Surulere

Continuous rainfall have marred the Local Government Area Elections in Lagos State as good number of electorate have remained indoor leaving very few to participate in the electoral exercise.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the rain caused some residents to stay back in their respective houses as flood was experienced in some areas including Obele in Surulere Local Government Area.

Some of the streets that got flooded by the rain includes; Taju Thompson Street, Ojikutu Street, Ado Close and some parts of Micheal Ogun Street.

In a chat with BBN, Taiwo Oke, an Obele resident, stated that the rain has forced many electorate to stay back at home and not participate in the election.

Despite the downpour, some residents still came out to cast their votes. The exercise is going on without stress on the electoral officers as they have a less busy day.

As at the time of filing this report, the electoral officers are set to commence with sorting and counting of votes casted as they have been directed by the Lagos State Independent National Electoral Commission to end voting process by 3pm.
