“Quite laudable” — Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour hails Sanwo-Olu for launching land registration portal
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Lagos at the 2019 elections, has praised the governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for launching an online portal that will allow electronic registration of lands in the state.
On Friday, Sanwo-Olu unveiled the state’s land administration portal, the electronic Geographic Information System.
The portal, according to the governor, will eliminate all forms of manual registration and allows residents to register their lands from the comfort of their homes, pay all necessary fees online, obtain their title document, and apply for a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O).
Reacting to the development in a tweet on Saturday, Rhodes-Vivour described the initiative as laudable, saying it would remove barriers to real estate development in the state.
“This is quite laudable, and kudos to all involved. If seen through, this will put an end to land fraud, racketeering and hooliganism. With political will behind this, It will bring ease and transparency to real estate development and increase our housing stock, thereby reducing the cost of housing for our people,” the politician wrote.
The gubernatorial hopeful noted that a similar effort was made by former Senator Gbenga Ashafa during his tenure as the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Land Use & Allocation Committee but was blocked by “vested interest”.
“I hope that this does not meet a similar fate. We look forward to it being open to the public and its implementation. Once again, well done,” he said.
