Presidential Election Tribunal Throws Out Atiku, PDP’s Petition
The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal moments ago dismissed the petitions filed by the People’s Democratic Party, and it’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar where they challenged the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2019 General elections.
The tribunal in its lead judgement which was delivered by Justice Garba Muhammed held that the petitioners failed to prove their case.
“This petition is accordingly and hereby dismissed in its entirety,” Justice Garba said.
It will be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission had declared President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC as the winner of the General Elections held on February 23rd, 2019 where he polled a total of 15,191,847 votes against his closes rival, Atiku who got 11,262,978 votes.
After the announcement of the results, Atiku and his Party, PDP submitted petitions to the PEPT challenging the candidacy and victory of Buhari at the polls.
The PEPT however it’s ruling declared that the petitioners failed to prove their case before the Tribunal.
