Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is set to renew his rivalry with actor and entertainer Charles Okocha in a high-profile boxing rematch scheduled for July 31 in Lagos.
The bout, announced by Balmoral Group Promotions under its “Chaos in the Ring” boxing series, will take place at the Balmoral Convention Center, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, and is expected to be streamed live on DAZN.
The event is being promoted as “Portable vs Charles: Unfinished Business.”
Recalled that Portable and Charles Okocha fought in a highly publicized celebrity boxing match on December 26, 2023.
The 40-minute bout took place at the Landmark Beach in Victoria Island, Lagos State, and ended with Portable being declared the winner after the fourth round.
The match was organized by Heritage Boxing Entertainment to settle a heated online dispute and contractual disagreement between the two entertainers, where Portable alleged that Okocha had ripped him off over an alleged N40 million deal.
The rematch revives one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity boxing rivalries.
Also on the fight card is another anticipated contest billed as “Agbaje vs Musa,” with organisers promising an action-packed night of boxing and entertainment. Promotional materials released by Balmoral describe the event as a battle to “settle the score” and have branded the competition as “Chaos in the Ring.”
Celebrity boxing events have gained popularity in recent years, blending sports and entertainment while drawing large audiences both online and at live venues.
The upcoming contest is expected to attract significant attention given the personalities involved and the lingering rivalry between Portable and Okocha.
With just weeks to go before fight night, anticipation is already building among supporters of both entertainers as they prepare to settle their differences once again inside the ring.
